Chorus
The Erie Philharmonic Chorus is a volunteer organization whose unique purpose is to provide the vocal expertise and proficiency needed to accompany the various works of the Erie Philharmonic Orchestra.
The Chorus began its great tradition in October of 1952, singing choruses from "La Traviata" under the direction of Fritz Mahler. In 1955, the first 'pops' concert was performed to immense praise. The Chorus appears several times each season with the Erie Philharmonic, and has also given separate stand-alone concerts.
Most of the chorus members are amateur musicians willing to make the commitment to learn and perform masterworks of the choral literature through weekly rehearsals. Some members come from as far away as Meadville, PA to be part of this long-standing institution. Those who may be interested in joining the chorus must audition, and auditions will be held in late August each year. For more information, please call the Philharmonic Office (814) 455-1375 ×19 or email chorus.
